About Dogon Country:

Regarded today as the jewel of tourism in Mali, Dogon country is comprised of a series of traditional villages surrounding the Bandiagara escarpment. Dogon country is a fascinating region of sub-Saharan Africa; it has magnificent landscapes, beautiful dances and masks, exotic mosques, and villages carved in pink sandstone on the cliff side. Go discover this beautiful land!

If there is one West African culture that has become legendary in the western world, it is the Dogon of Mali. Dogon country (Pays Dogon) has been classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO because of its rich civilization. The Dogon are known for their art, especially their masks which are used in their complex rites and rituals. Their history is marked by the will and stubbornness to remain authentic and preserve their traditional way of life. Despite the diversity of their dialects, they are of great ethnic cohesion.

A note from a satisfied Customer:

I have employed Hamadou Guindo as my Guide on three seperate tours to Mali over the last five years. A trip down the River Niger to Timbuktu. Awalking trek  through various villages in Dogon Country. A cross Country tour through Bukino Faso. I found him extremely conscientious, friendly, with an excellent rapport with Hotels, Restaurants and Transport Operators. I throughly recommend this young Man.
